Spouse/guest tours
Tours will be on Thursday, July 10, and Friday, July 11. All tours will be completed in time to participate in evening events.

The spouse/guest registration includes admission to the Wednesday evening Welcome Reception, the Exhibition, the Friday Reception and Show featuring Bob Newhart, the Saturday Closing General Session & Brunch and your selection of two of the following tours.

The World Famous San Diego Zoofari
The San Diego Zoo is world famous for its impressive animal collection, in both size and variety of rare and exotic species exhibited. Your spouse/guest will have the opportunity to see the zoo through a narrated safari tour aboard an open-air double decker bus. They will catch impressive glimpses of the “big cats,” giraffes, zebras and other species, and learn about their care at the zoo from a humorous and well-informed tour guide. After the guided tour there will be plenty of free time to explore the remainder of the zoo—such as the Reptile House, the Hummingbird Aviary and Primate Mesa! As a bonus—spouses/guests will also be able to take a ride on the Skyfari aerial tram. A delicious lunch will be served in the Treetops canopy.

Passport to Balboa Park
San Diego’s picturesque Balboa Park is one of the world’s great urban parks. Its 1,200 acres in central San Diego are more than 130 years old and have hosted two world expositions. The park is home to the San Diego Zoo, Old Globe Theatre, 15 museums and recreational and cultural facilities. Upon arrival, your spouse/guests receive a “passport” to Balboa Park, an admission book that allows them access to several of the park’s historic museums. They can then select a leisurely walking tour through the park with the tour guide, or they can enjoy the park entirely on their own! Lunch will be served in the beautiful Prado restaurant surround by Spanish, Moorish and Mexican architecture. In addition to the museums, your spouse/guests will have access to the Spanish Village Art Center. The buildings were originally created for use in the 1935-36 California Pacific International Exposition and are an authentic reproduction of an ancient village in Spain.

All unused tickets in your spouse/guest Passport to Balboa Park are good for seven days.

Coronado Walking/USS Midway Tour
Your spouse/guests’ day will begin with a leisurely guided tour through quaint Coronado, once the playground of presidents and princesses. The tour begins with an overview of the island’s history—460 years of history to be exact—beginning in 1542 when Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo, a Spanish explorer first arrived in San Diego, all the way up until the finishing touches were put
on the Hotel Del Coronado. Lunch will be served on the water’s edge in the Coronado Ferry Landing, once the only way to reach Coronado, with breathtaking views of the downtown San Diego skyline and San Diego Bay. After lunch, your spouse/guests will return to the mainland for an audio tour aboard the USS Midway. Over the course of 27 years, she was the home to more than 200,000 Americans. She is making her final tour of duty in San Diego to pay tribute to the contributions of the armed services and is a beacon of education and entertainment.
